Fraudulent chargeback. We had been liaising with customer about a delayed parcel travelling from Australia to Tennessee and a subsequent unsuccessful delivery attempt. Customer rescheduled delivery and eventually item was delivered and tracking link confirmed it was delivered and signed for. Contacted customer to confirm she had successfully received the item, customer advised she had “just left town” and was due to return the following day. The following evening a chargeback request was received. Contacted customer again who said she had still not returned home and advised she had submitted it a few days prior and that she would contact the bank to cancel it once she got home to confirm it was delivered. Several days later, customer advised she had spoken to the bank and withdrawn the chargeback claim and that they advised it would take a few days to go through. The chargeback was never closed, the customer stopped responding, and unfortunately no surprise that the bank sided with the customer when it was disputed, even though we provided the proof of delivery notice with customers signature. Awful customer - stealing from a small home business is the absolute lowest of low! And if you actually do have a genuine issue just reach out to the business and we will help you, including providing a refund if deemed necessary, it’s not that hard to be a decent person!

Ran a four-week paid-acquisition sprint for Ms. Brandt's e-commerce shop with weekly performance calls she attended. After the final report was delivered, she disputed the €3,400 card payment as "unrecognised" — despite the card being on file for three prior invoices she paid without issue.

Oliver Pemberton

London, England, United Kingdom

Verified

Completed a full brand identity package for Mr. Pemberton — logo suite, brand guidelines, and social templates — delivered and approved in writing on June 3. The final invoice of £2,900 went unanswered for 60 days despite three follow-ups. When we involved a collections agency, he claimed the work was "not as discussed", though every revision was signed off by email.

Verified

After-hours emergency call-out to repair a failed switchboard at Mr. Holloway's rental property. He paid the AU$800 call-out portion but refused the AU$1,150 balance for parts and labour, claiming the tenant "never authorised" the repair — though he booked and let us in himself. Balance remains unpaid 90 days on.

Amara Gauthier

Toronto, Ontario, Canada

Verified

Built and deployed the client portal milestone for Ms. Gauthier's firm. She approved the staging build, we pushed to production, and eleven days later her bank issued a chargeback for CA$5,600 claiming "services not rendered". We supplied the card network with signed milestone approvals, server logs, and handover emails. The chargeback was decided in her favour anyway.

Ms. Lindqvist commissioned a video production package for her product launch with net-30 terms. We delivered all assets ahead of schedule and she used the videos in a paid ad campaign that is still running. The $7,900 invoice is now over 120 days past due. She responded twice early on saying payment was being processed, then went silent. Her company remains active and the ads featuring our footage continue to run. We have filed with a collections agency. Contract, delivery confirmation, and live ad links are documented on file.

Stephanie Voss

Denver, CO

Verified

Ms. Voss booked us to cater a 120-person corporate event with a signed contract and 50 percent deposit. The event was executed in full and the remaining $5,400 balance was paid on site by credit card. She complimented the staff and left a five-star review the same night. Eleven days later the balance charge was disputed with the issuer as canceled merchandise or services. We responded with the signed contract, event photos, staffing logs, the venue sign-off sheet, and her own public review praising the event. The dispute is still pending with the issuer. Fellow caterers should require direct ACH for balances. All evidence referenced is on file.

Completed a full kitchen remodel for Mr. Boudreaux under a signed contract totaling $19,600. He paid the deposit and the first progress draw without issue. The final invoice of $8,400 was sent on completion day after he walked the job, signed the punch list, and told us in writing the work looked great. Thirty days went by with no payment. We sent two follow-up invoices and a final demand letter. He then claimed a cabinet door was misaligned, which we offered to fix at no charge within 48 hours. He refused the repair visit and stopped responding entirely. The invoice is now 75 days past due. Contract, signed punch list, photos of completed work, and all text and email correspondence are on file.

Brandon Tolliver

Nashville, TN

Verified

Mr. Tolliver signed a fixed-price contract for a deck build. Midway through, he requested a scope change to add stairs and lighting, which we quoted at $3,600 and he approved by text message. The additional work was completed and he used the deck for a graduation party the following weekend. He then disputed the $3,600 change order charge with his card issuer, claiming he never authorized additional work. We supplied the text thread where he wrote yes go ahead with the additions along with dated photos of the completed stairs and lighting. Lesson learned: signed change orders only, even for text approvals. Documentation is on file.

Gerald Pinsky

Chicago, IL

Verified

Mr. Pinsky engaged us for a three-month managed IT support contract for his small accounting office. Payment was card-not-present on a monthly recurring invoice. Months one and two were paid without issue. Month three was disputed with the card issuer as transaction not recognized even though his office used our helpdesk 23 times that month and he personally signed in to remote sessions. We provided the issuer with login logs, ticket history, the signed service agreement, and call recordings of him requesting support. The dispute reason was later changed to services not as described without specifics. The contract has been terminated for nonpayment. Ticket logs and session records are on file.

Kevin Odum

Atlanta, GA

Verified

Mr. Odum booked a dedicated freight run with a 48-hour cancellation policy stated on the signed rate confirmation. He canceled the load 6 hours before the scheduled pickup, after our driver had already deadheaded 90 miles to the origin. We invoiced the $450 cancellation fee per the agreement. He refused to pay, claiming he never read the policy even though his signature is on the document directly beneath the cancellation clause. Small amount, but the principle matters. Signed rate confirmation and driver GPS log are on file.

Pamela Groves

Charlotte, NC

Verified

Ms. Groves placed a wholesale order of boutique inventory totaling $1,150 with payment by credit card. The order shipped with signature confirmation and was signed for at her registered business address. She listed several of the items for sale in her shop the same week. Three weeks later she filed a chargeback claiming the goods were never received. We submitted the tracking record, signature confirmation with her name, and photos from her own social media showing the merchandise on her shelves. The chargeback was reversed in our favor after representment, but the process took nine weeks of staff time. Signature confirmation saved us. Documentation on file.
