Ms. Rosenfeld hired us for a consulting engagement billed at completion. She paid the $2,750 invoice by check, which was returned for insufficient funds. When contacted she apologized, said it was a bank error, and promised a replacement check within the week. No replacement ever arrived. Follow-up calls went to voicemail and emails bounced back after her domain lapsed. A demand letter sent by certified mail was accepted and signed for, but produced no response.
